Great Day at Nikki Beach with the Lipstick and YH Teams.

What an honour and fantastic privilege it is to be working with the guys at Nikki Beach Dubai. We just absolutely love being a part of “Amazing Sundays’. This is something that happens all over the world from Monaco, Greece to Ibiza at Nikki because.

Now it is settle in Dubai after opening earlier this year, time to get with the programme and jump on board.

What a way to spend you Sunday, chilling in an amazing location with fantastic people doing what we love.

The them is Native American Indian so goes with the whole style of Nikki Beach with the teepees as their logo.

Everyone got involved and participated in having their make up done in the style, even the saxophonist and the staff loved it.

It was our first week there and I could not think of a better way to work. Seriously, it really isn’t like working, its like being on holiday talking and having a laugh with people.

Just have a look at the pictures, they speak for themselves.

The Lipstick Make up teams did a great job creating a bespoke design for each person but then again thats part of the fun using your creativity and being able to explore the wonderful world of make up. ! Check out theses pictures, they just speak for them selves.

Behind the scenes at the hair show in the world Trade Centre

YH Studios DXB supported @hairsalonuae at the amazing hair show on the 15th May at the World Trade Centre.

Khaled Bou Kamel owner of, “The Hair Salon” in the Marriott Hotel in the Courtyard, Green Community who is the most stylish, creative and flamboyant hairdresser with his scissors, owned the stage with his team when he was creating and displaying his talents to the eagerly awaited audience.

In preparation of his models The Lipstick Make Up Institute did what they do best and made them look alive, fresh and cool as they graced the stage with the boys. They are stylish in their attitude, appearance and methods.

_MG_8664email _MG_8682emailKhaled has supported YH Studios and The Lipstick Make Up Institute on many occasions so it was our utter pleasure and privilege to be able to return the favour.

Not all the models that we did the make up for were getting their hair cut but were walking on stage to entertain and showcase the skills of Mr. Bou Kamel.

Here are a few shots of the kind of high hairstyles that were showcased by the beautiful models on the day.

The whole day was about hair and as the models got ready I took them away for a few seconds and managed to get a few shots of them with the beautiful make up, hair then the photography.

Maybe we should all work together all the time. Sounds like a plan to me. Come and get your hair cut and styled by The Hair Salon, make up applied by The Lipstick Make Up Institute then photographed by YH StudiosDXB.

Sounds like a plan to me!!!

Lets do it guys!!

A new concept to hit Dubai, watch this space.

How to get the best from your Phone Apps. Tip 2

Tip Number 2 on how to get the best from your APPS.

We are still on Perfect 365.

This app is just so incredibly flattering its very addictive, as I said yesterday its just like having a make up artist in your phone. Now, I find it difficult to NOT use it! But i just have that kind of personality, VAIN Ha

On this app I use the tools for , skin, eyes,  lips and contouring tools.

Today I am going to talk about the skin and Eyes tools and tomorrow the Lips and Contouring tools.

Skin tool

I us the Brighten Tool and the  soften skin tool, it removes blemishes. I find this better than the blemish tool. The only problem is that people just over do it and I cannot stress enough that, Less is More! I see images on Facebook all the time and people look absolutely flawless and like they have just been airbrushed to the MAX! Its too much guys. Gently does it. We are Not Plastic people!

Eyes tool

I use the Circle tool, which is fabulous is you are looking slightly tired and its difficult to overdo this tool as it doesn’t really allow you too.

The Brighten tool which brightens the whites of the eyes but be very careful as its so easy to overdo.

Finally the Enlarge tool. Sometimes we squint on images especially if we have a big smile on our faces so this will make our eyes appear very small so this tool is perfect but once again do not overdo it as themes are a major feature on our faces and if you alter too much then it will not look like you, you will just look weird!

Here are a few examples of GENTLE Editing, nothing too extreme.

The one of me with the sunglasses on is a PERFECT example of very

gentle editing but can see that it kind of gives you that polished look.

SECRET number 7: How to pose correctly to always look your BEST!

Final Tip on Posing is to LOOSEN UP!

7. Loosen up.
Unless you’re a professional model, which rules most of us out! odds are that most of the photos you find yourself in are fun, casual shots with friends. As much you think “posing” for these types of pictures will make you look better, the fact remains that loosing up and having a little fun will almost always make for a more flattering snap. Since you’re not trying as hard, there will be less room for error.

Basically its a continuation of my tips yesterday. Relaxed and natural always captures the best shots. I have got some fabulous shots that are casual but with a little arrangement from me they always look like they have been put together but I ALWAYS think about the composition. Its in my blood, I can’t help it.

As I said yesterday, memories are EVERYTHING.

Always think about a shot before just taking it. You will get better each time you take them and you will love the fact that you can think quickly as how to arrange people. Its a marvellous tool but as I have been a photographer for over 25 years sometimes I do wish I could give my brain a rest, but I CAN’T!!!

Here are some great example of casual shots but the composition is spot on. Part 4 of Tips & Tricks of studio lighting techniques/ Split lighting

Split Lighting

Split lighting occurs when the key light illuminates only half the face. It is an ideal slimming light. It can be used to narrow a wide face or nose. It can also be used with a weak fill to hide facial irregularities. For a highly dramatic effect, split lighting can be used with no fill.

For me this is my favourite kind of lighting because its so effective, mysterious and you can create any kind of mood you like. Its not only flattering but can create an essence in a shot that the photographer and the model have between them.

There is always a bond between the photographer and the  model and this is what creates the most effective shots and that feeling pours out with the passion a photographer has inside and if you connect with him/her you will get the most amazing shots ever!

So the motto is:, always be kind to your photographer. They might be a bit weird at times but they are just thinking!!!!
